ABOUT

In the summer of 2018, Baranh first came on the map of Lahore's numerous eateries and cuisine options. A single station stall was set up, luring - almost immediately, scores of curious Old Lahore food devotees, flocking towards the newly opened restaurant which, unlike any other eatery in the city, promised to serve the indigenous cuisine of the 12 gates of Old Lahore.

Tucked away in the Qadaffi stadium, the first famous Tawa Chicken began kicking up a storm. As a result, the term "Barah," when directly translated, refers to the number twelve, which stands for the 12 recognizable gates of the Androon Shehar, the Old City of Lahore.

Roof-Top Dining Area

According to the conventional historical account, every city gate and the neighborhood around it is highly regarded throughout the nation for its distinctive cuisine, which is fueled by roaring cult followings for their specialized menus and ancestral secret recipes. Overall, Barah made the renowned Old Lahore unusual food and all its delicacies broadly and easily accessible to all city dwellers by unlocking the ages-old holy grail of all these celebrated, secret recipes.

Outer Dining Area

The only conceptual restaurant in the nation that genuinely serves cuisine with a history and a backstory is Barah. Going to a restaurant is therefore more than simply a nice spot to have dinner; it is also a lavish experience that is unmatched anywhere else.

Our Folklore of Food

Every dish on the menu has a piece of its own unique folklore attached to it, so eating at Baranh is more than just stuffing your face with food; rather, it's a learning experience that each patron receives by being told about the history of the cuisine and some of its unique characteristics.

Barah started off with the incredibly well-known Tawa Chicken, which is chicken that has been braised and marinated in a particular spice rub before being pan-seared on a hot cooktop and finished with chili for that much-loved zing of extra heat.

Inner Dining Area

The idea behind it is deceptively straightforward, but what makes Tawa Chicken unique and stand out from other chicken dishes is the secret sauce and spice rub that is made specifically for the chicken and contains over nine different ground spices and seasonings.

Baranh's signature cuisine is intriguing not only because it exudes a strong sense of historical charm, but also because it brings the ancient and the new together. Gol Gappa Shots are delicious crackers dipped in tangy, sweet tamarind water and filled with a choice of chickpeas, yogurt, and salsa.

They were first offered as an appetizer. Gol Gappas are often served on platters, but Barah serves them with tamarind water in miniature shot glasses along with crackers. One of the most well-known folklore foods is the incredibly delicious, melt-in-your-mouth "Gaulati Kebab," or "soft kebabs," which was created specifically for a nawab who loved kebabs but lacked teeth in the early 1700s.

While savoring centuries-old cuisine presented with a touch of modernity and a great appreciation for the past, the tales and anecdotes never cease to enchant.
